Title: Remember
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Blaise
Prompt: 040. Sight
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
“He doesn’t remember me, Blaise,” Ginny said bleakly, gripping the kitchen table until her knuckles became white. “He doesn’t remember me.”
His dark eyes fairly gleamed. “He doesn’t?’
“I thought the sight of me would at least stop him in his tracks for even a second, but he just looked at me and smiled. Wanted to know who I was.” Her voice was bitter.
He went up to her and placed a hand on her back sympathetically. “The healers did say that his memory loss, for some reason, was irreparable.”
“Still. He loved me. That should have counted for something.”
Title: Tone Deaf
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Draco
Prompt: 42. Triangle, 082. Deaf, 097. Song (Writer’s Choice), 098. Stun (Writer’s Choice), 099. Mess (Writer’s Choice)
Word Count: 500
Rating: G
“Oh no ohno ohnoohno,” Ginny moaned.
“Ginevra! Are you LISTENING?”
Ginny drew aside her curtains with a single finger, and watched with dread as Draco brandished his triangular pick.
“Draco, you’re TONE DEAF,” she yelled out the window. “What are you doing with that guitar?”
“I’m going to sing a song,” he said, slinging the strap around his shoulder. “I wrote it for you.”
It was like a train wreck; she knew she should turn away and plug her ears, but somehow, she found herself glued to the scene occurring below.
Draco strummed a few chords, then cleared his throat and started singing.
Nights and days’ve been so lonely
Since you’ve been gone
Now you’re marrying Scarhead
And leaving me alone
I know he really loves you
But I could love you more
I’d make your life exciting
While he’d only be a bore
And I know I’ve lost my chance
And I know I’m in the wrong
But I can’t help but come and see
If your mind would change
If I saaaang this sooooong
He suddenly keeled over, and Ginny surreptitiously put her wand away.
Much later, Draco woke up on her couch with a splitting headache.
“How’re you feeling?” Ginny asked.
“Like hell.” He sat up and shot her a look. “You stunned me!”
“I had to. My neighbors were about to kill you.” Ginny sighed and put her hands to her temples. “What are you doing, Draco?”
“I wrote you a song and I was singing it for you-”
“Yeah, I got that part,” she said sourly. “But what were you thinking? That I would suddenly realize that I loved you, and I would break up with Harry and come running into your arms?”
“Eh,” he said. “I hadn’t really thought about it.”
“You never do,” she said, glaring at him. “You never think. Draco, how many years have we been friends?”
He thought about it. “Many.”
“And I told you how I felt, before. I told you that I loved you, but if you didn’t love me, there was nothing I could do, and that I would be happy with your friendship. You were the one that told me to go out with Harry when he asked me. This is all your doing. You can’t just come here and mess it all up.”
“Yes I can,” he said sullenly.
“And what was with that last line in your chorus?” she asked curiously. “You sounded like a wounded dog-”
“Ginny, I love you. I think I always have. And it is my fault. But I couldn’t let you just marry him without knowing how I feel.”
She remained stone-faced, then stood up. “I think you should go,” she said.
“All right,” he said. He paused at the door, then gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. “I’ll talk to you later.”
“Goodbye,” she said pointedly. When he left, she collapsed into a chair. It was just like him to twist her world around.
Title: Diagram
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Harry
Prompt: 043. Square
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG-13
“That’s a really bizarre love square. Hexagon. Octagon. Whatever it is.”
Ginny looked up from the diagram that she had been sketching for him. “It is a little confusing,” she admitted.
“I don’t know why you read those trashy novels for fun. They’re harder than our transfiguration texts used to be.”
Her eyes crinkled. “Transfiguration didn’t have any graphic details about-”
He clapped a hand over her mouth. “No more,” he said firmly.
Her eyes looked apologetic enough, so he let her go.
She backed away from him, then yelled “SEX!” and ran away before he could catch her.
Title: Mine
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Draco, Unnamed henchman
Prompt: 044. Circle, 053. Earth, 076. Rebirth, 087. Life, 096. Bound (Writer’s Choice)
Word Count: 500
Rating: PG-13
A/N: A/N: Draco’s really creepy in this one. And he says ‘mine’ a lot. Typical. This also makes little to no sense, but whatever.
First, there is life, then there is death.
It is the tie that binds the fate of everyone.
No exceptions.
It is a never ending circle. The body is born, then laid to rest in the earth, where it can support more life.
This is the way it has been, this is the way it will be.
“Enough!” she shouted, finally.
Draco Malfoy closed the heavy tome and looked at the woman in front of him with lazy eyes. “Is there something wrong?”
Her voice shook. “This isn’t going to make me change my mind.”
“You do understand what you are trying to do,” he said, leaning forward. “You are trying to raise the dead. It breaks almost every taboo known to man. It is Dark Magic. There are no guarantees, except that this will not turn out the way you expected. Are you still prepared?”
“Yes.”
“And for this service, you will bind yourself to me for life. Life. Your life won’t be yours anymore. It will be mine. I will control it as I wish.”
She closed her eyes for a long time.
“Are you having any doubts?” he asked softly. “Because there is still time to back out. Your precious-”
“Don’t say his name,” she said, voice sharp. “You don’t deserve to.”
“Is it that terrible? Being bonded to me?” he asked her, looking at her curiously.
She let out a hoarse laugh. “It feels like I’m selling my soul to the devil.” Then she looked straight up at him, and her brown eyes were clear. “But I’ll do it.”
He put away the tome and stood from his chair. Her eyes followed his every movement, and he didn’t miss the fact that she flinched away slightly as he approached her and touched her chin with his fingertips.
“I will bring him to life for you. His rebirth will be complicated, and you must stay away from him for the whole process. You will move in with me, starting tomorrow. And who knows?” He lifted her chin so she could look at him. “You may even fall in love with me.”
She jerked her face away.
“I told you when we were both young that you would be mine, didn’t I?” he said, voice soft as silk. “That’s what I told you, and you slapped my face and swore at me. Do you remember?”
She didn’t answer, and that pleased him.
“You told me that you’d rather die first. And look where we are now. You’re healthy and living, and you’re mine.”
He leaned his face close to hers and her body tensed up as he placed a cool kiss at the corner of her mouth. “Mine,” he whispered, and she didn’t say anything.
When she left, he called for one of his henchmen. “It’s time to free him. Several complex memory charms should do the trick.”
“And she won’t know that he was never dead?”
“Never. She’ll be mine,” he said with a sharp grin.
Title: Obliterate
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Harry
Prompt: 045. Moon, 047. Heart, 050. Joker, 055. Spirit
Word Count: 400
Rating: PG
A/N: Very heavily influenced by GWTW.
Worthless. Utterly worthless.
Nobody will ever know you. Nobody will ever bother to know you, because you’re not worth knowing.
Once everybody finds out who you are really, they will all leave you. I’ll be the only one that’s left, little Gi-
“-NNY.”
With a shuddering gasp, she opened her eyes to find Harry standing over her, his green eyes worried. The moonlight streamed in through the window, reminding her that she was in the present where Tom Riddle was supposed to be gone.
“Nightmare,” she whispered. “I’m sorry I woke you.”
“Oh, Ginny,” he said, while gathering her up in her arms. “Was it Tom again?” he asked, pressing kisses to her hairline.
“Yes,” she said, her voice muffled in his chest. “I know he’s dead. I know he’s dead in the daytime, but somehow it’s like his spirit has infected my mind. He won’t go away, no matter what I do. Sometimes, I feel like if I put both hands on my temples and squeeze hard enough, I could just obliterate him from my mind. But, somehow, I know that he’ll still be there, no matter what I do.”
“What does he say?” he asked, keeping his arms close around her.
She tensed. Could she tell him? In a rush, all the mocking laughter and derision rolled over her. If she told him, would he realize who she was, and leave her, just like Tom said?
“Nothing,” she said shakily. Worthless, worthless. Nobody understands you like I do. “It’s not true, whatever he says, I know.” Do you? Are you afraid that what I say about you is true? That he’ll realize this and leave you?
Harry looked unsure, but didn’t protest. “Do you think you can get back to sleep?” he asked.
She nodded. “Thank you,” she said. “You didn’t have to.”
“I love you,” he yawned, and she caught her breath at how easily the words came to him. “Of course I have to.”
Does he love you? Does he really know you? Will he still love you when you tell him everything about yourself?
She nestled against his chest, and his arms wrapped around her waist. She could feel the warmth radiating from his sleep-warm skin, and she could hear every beat of his heart.
For no reason at all, her eyes filled with tears.
Worthless, worthless. Soon, I’ll be the only one that’s left.
Title: Masquerade
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Draco
Prompt: 046. King, 049. Queen
Word Count: 200
Rating: G
046. King, 049. Queen
“That crown makes you look ridiculous,” Ginny said, digging an elbow into his side.
“Oof.” Draco straightened the crown so it remained upright on his head. “You’re just saying that because you’re jealous. You could only dream about being a king.”
“It’s just a costume party. A lame one. One so lame that even I’m not attending it.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to come? I’m sure there are some pretty gowns at the Manor that we could fix you up in. You could be my queen,” he said regally.
She snorted. “A party full of ex-Slytherins? No thanks,” she said emphatically. “I’m just going to curl up in my armchair and read.”
He paused at the doorway, looking a bit uncertain, and the look on his face was so unusual that she peered at him closely. “Are you feeling alright, Draco? You look sick.”
Draco screwed up his face. “For your information, I was going to tell you something sentimental, but I think I won’t.”
She laughed. “Well, have a good time.”
“It won’t be the same without you making snarky comments,” he said.
“I guess you’ll have to make do without your favorite redhead,” she said, grinning.
Title: Cake!
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Draco
Prompt: 061. Winter, 077. Paralysis, 091. Birthday
Word Count: 300
Rating: G
“You baked me a cake? For my birthday?” Ginny looked at the cake on the table, then looked at him suspiciously. “Who are you, and what have you done with my boyfriend?”
He looked hurt. “You don’t believe that I would bake you a cake?”
“No, I don’t.”
“I got all the materials-”
“Ingredients.”
He took a long look at her. “Oh, fine. I went over to your mum’s-”
“You went to Mum?”
“If you stopped interrupting, I might be able to tell you the whole story,” he said, a trifle snootily. She ignored him, throwing her arms around his neck.
“I thought it would take at least another few months before she relented and started liking you! This is wonderful!”
“Well, I do what I can,” Draco said modestly.
“This is the best birthday present that you could have ever given me,” she said, quickly pressing her lips to his.
As it was, he was reluctant to tell her that her mother had thrown heavy kitchenware at him for daring to take her precious daughter from her equally precious Harry, but he knew that she would probably paralyze him for life if he neglected to tell her what had really happened.
“Wait,” he said, reluctantly holding her off. “I have to tell you something. That cake didn’t come cheaply.”
“You bought it from Mum?” she asked, sounding scandalized.
“I didn’t give her money for it. But…”
“But what? What is it?” Ginny was fairly bright and caught on very quickly. “Did you promise her something impossible? Draco! How could you?”
“We just have to be married by the end of this winter and start making babies right away.”
Her jaw dropped. “All of that, for a cake? That cake?”
“It’s a very good cake,” he said sullenly.
