Shun looked down at his empty, cold bed, wishing it wasn't quite so empty. Climbing in, he pulled the pillows into a makeshift pillow fort around him - one on each side of his body, a third under his head. He closed his eyes and sighed as he remembered. Remembered the soft breaths and solid body and sweet smell of someone else. Someone he wanted, but wasn't sure he could have.

They'd known each other for years, but it was just in the last few months that realization hit him like a ton of bricks. Or a truck. Or something equally large and destructive. Truth be told, he hadn't thought of Sho as anything other than an acquaintance and friend. Until the one moment their eyes met just right and he saw it - he saw what they could be. All that Sho was. All that Shun could be with him.

He'd shrugged it off at the time. He was scared and confused and awkward as hell. But he couldn't get Sho's eyes and smile and laugh and voice and everything out of his mind. And that was kind of intimidating.

Shun rolled over discontentedly and stared at the clear sky through his window. He was really lucky to have this awesome a view in a city as big and bright as Tokyo. His thoughts slowly turned back to Sho. "I wonder if he can see the stars at night?" Shun buried his face in the pillow he clung to. This was just...annoyingly perplexing.

The memory of that first moment of realization burned in his mind. Shun and Mao had finally had a chance to catch an Arashi concert together, something they'd talked about since Hanadan, four years previous. They'd stood side by side in the sea of fans, cheering and singing and dancing along like normal people. Shun had a better time that night than he'd had in a long time and fully intended on letting his friends know about it. The guys put on a damn good show, time and time again.

Heading backstage was always a delicately choreographed affair. The crush of fans was almost overwhelming, but being a relatively famous actor had its advantages. Security was quick to pull them forward to safety. Mao and Shun looked at each other and grinned. Advantages, that was a fact.

Five minutes later, they were waiting rather awkwardly in a hallway they'd been whisked to by concert staff. Shun's whole body hummed with left over concert adrenaline as he bounced in place. Mao just looked up at him and smiled knowingly.

"OI!" a familiar voice called down the hall.

They turned to see the members of Arashi streaming out of their dressing room looking exhilarated, exhausted and still slightly damp from post-concert showering. Jun led the way to his friends beaming widely. "What did you think? Was the MC too long? And the transition between songs? I was a little worried about the fourth transition, between We Can Make It! and Kaze?" Jun continued to babble, Mao offering encouraging noises at all the right spots. After so many years, they were deft at handling the perfectionist in Jun that always came out around performance time - acting, singing, dancing, it didn't matter.

"Jun, please stop analyzing the WHOLE concert," Nino complained, coming up behind his band mate with Aiba and Ohno in tow. "We're exhausted. Let's do this tomorrow. Please."

"You guys were so great!" gushed Mao. "Really excellent! The whole wires thing? Mind blowing. And oh my gosh, Oh-chan! Your solo was awesome!" Ohno blinked then smiled widely. "Thanks!" he said, shuffling off behind an arguing Nino and Jun.

Aiba bounced up to them, catching both of his friends in a tight hug. "I'm so glad you guys came!!"

Shun laughed as he hugged Aiba back. "We're glad to be here! The show was really awesome."

The door down the hall opened once more. Shun turned to greet the last of Arashi's members, but the words didn't quite make it out. Sho walked slowly down the hall, damp hair plastered to his forehead and curling at the nape. He looked up as he adjusted the gym bag on his shoulder and their eyes connected. Shun's heartbeat faltered for just a second. It was over just as quickly as it came, but it shook him. Hard. His body was suddenly on fire. Shun's palms instantly went sweaty. 'What is going on?' he thought, attempting to avert his eyes from Sho's exposed arms. His heart raced as Sho strode purposefully down the hall.

Shun's hand shot to the back of his head in an unconscious awkward gesture. "Hey!" His heart caught in his throat. "Um," he coughed. "Great show tonight!" Sho's eyes bored into him, seemingly peering into his very soul. Shun'd never met anyone whose gaze could pierce him quite like that.

Sho's face broke into a crinkly smile. "Thanks! It was a lot of fun. Except for that whole flying thing. That was NOT okay." Mao had laughed, maybe a little too loudly, while Shun struggled to keep his smile firmly in place. He'd never noticed how beautiful Sho really was with his perfect lips, intelligent eyes and the button nose that scrunched up when he was annoyed.

Sho threw his head back in a laugh at something Mao'd said that Shun missed. He was too busy watching the tendons in Sho's neck; too busy storing that laugh away for a rainy day.

The memory faded as Shun tossed and turned in bed, bringing him back to the moment. He'd realized that night that he felt something real for Sho. Something deeper than just a random crush. He buried his face in his hands. Of course he would fall for not only a friend, but a dude. Shun'd never considered sexuality something to be worried about or ashamed of, and he'd be lying to say that Sho was the first guy he'd found attractive, but he was the first one Shun had actually really liked. In that way. Sho's laugh resonated through his head, sending shivers down Shun's spine.

Last night, they'd spent hours kissing and cuddling, just enjoying each others company and the feel of each others arms. But how much of that was fueled by the massive amount of tequila Nino slipped Sho when he wasn't paying attention? And how much of it was a real desire to be with each other? Sure, Sho'd stuck around for a few hours to help clean up, and he hadn't screamed and ran out when he realized he was in bed with Shun (and in his boxers, nonetheless). But still. The doubt weighed heavily on Shun's mind. He knew where he stood in this. He wanted to spend as much time with Sho as humanly possible. But did Sho feel the same?

Shun rolled over again, effectively disbanding the pillow fort. "Need....warm milk and a boring book." He shuffled to the kitchen, determined to worry about this later. He had filming in five hours and hadn't managed to sleep yet. Damn that rapper for infiltrating his brain all night. All day. Okay, all weekend. FINE, for almost two months.

If crushes were easy, they wouldn't be called crushes, he thought bitterly.
