"the juxtaposition of Lisa and Ben to all the trappings of Dean’s other life really brings/brought out to me that the Winchester life is terrifying and impossible."

I haven't read your post yet (will do so directly) but to me, life with Lisa and Ben looks WORSE than hunting. I don't have any desire to watch a show about Dean plodding his way through a boring half-life in the suburbs intercut with scenes of fucking Ben gives him Life Lessons. No, just no, no, no. If this is where Show is going, I'm out.

Re: Sam's time in hell -- to be fair to the writers (and let me tell you, I'm not feeling much generosity to these sloppy hacks right now) Sam didn't state that those few minutes *were* a week, but that they *felt* like a week. And yeah, if you've ever been badly burned, it's understandable how time utterly STOPS when you're in that sort of pain.

"They didn’t deal well at all with Dean’s hell and now they have a whole season built around Sam’s hell"Honestly I don't even know what this season is about. I don't think the writers know ( ... )

"I mean, we do not have time for this, unless they really hate their overarcing weird extra plots as much as we do."
I think they DO hate their weird plots, or at least a large number of the current writers do. I suspect that there are LOT of people involved with writing this season, far more than previous seasons, and I also suspect that there's a lot of animosity among the writing staff. That would explain that strange convoluted mess we've seen so far this season and all the strange inconsistencies. (They can't even seem to track events from a few episodes ago. Watching last night's mess you would swear that Dean left Ben and Lisa, right? Only that's NOT WHAT HAPPENED, writers! Miss Lisa kicked HIM out and told him it was over and refused HIS calls, FFS.)

"It should have been done in five. It is a goddamn mess now."I hated how five ended -- Sam burning in hell and depressed Dean stuck in domestic hell. What sort of an ending is that? But here we are at 6.14 and it still seems like that's what the writers are circling around back ( ... )

If he would have, that would have been it for me. I would have deleted SPN off my DVR because I am NOT watching a show about a damaged guy and a spunky single gal raising a brat together and doin' the gosh-darned best they can. PLEASE. Really: PLEASE! That is me begging for mercy, writers. ENOUGH WITH LISA AND BEN and back to the brothers in a classic car, killing monsters and saving people.

Unfortunately I suspect that this isn't the end of it, considering that Ben&Lisa come up in conversation in at least every other episode.

"I feel like I'm either bored or angry half the time I'm watching lately and I hate that; it's just such a freaking mess"

ME TOO. And I hate that because I used to love, love, love this show and consider it the most vastly underrated show on television. As of right now it's just a mess and the writers clearly have no idea what they're doing this season. And their floundering is MY PAIN.

"So if we could, once and for all, scrap this soap opera crap, and hey, maybe lose Castiel in the process too, that'd be excellent."

LOL! That was the one good thing last night -- I was bracing myself for Castiel to flap in at the very end and deliver another nonsensical lecture to Dean but NO. We actually got the brother talking and relating instead! More of that, please. And less of the suck.

The Dean/Lisa montage was so cheesy it totally threw me out of the episode - it seemed so barren and wrong compared to the S5 finale montage, like it was deliberately manufactured to convince us that we *should* be feeling some sense of loss comparable to the previous montage, and just -- NO. I'm gonna have to try to remember that Ben's guilt trip of trying to convince Dean they were 'family' after a year was just from the pov of an egocentric preadolescent who understandably wants that, not from Dean's -- who went back to his family. Sam.

I find Ben's fixation on Dean very strange. He's at an age where he should have his own life of school, sports, friends, and girls -- who his mother is dating shouldn't be the most important thing in his world. I just don't see the Epic Love of Dean and Ben that they're trying to sell us right now. Dean was a depressed alcoholic mess for most of the year he lived with them, and then he was all about Sammy again, and then he was a vampire who physically attacked the kid. A cut-scene of Dean talking to Ben about cars isn't enough to convince me that Dean should be anything more than history as his mom moves on to the doctor (who was apparently eaten by a random monster or something last night.)

Snarky cranky salting-and-burning Sam made me happy. :) Man, I guess I just don't mind Lisa and Ben that much. When Dean came back from forty years in hell all barely-changed and fakely crying and un-loved-up by Sammeh, THAT was when I got mad. Now everything the show does well seems like kind of a bonus. Of course if it was Sam doing the girlfriend stuff and we got less Dean screen-time, I would probably take issue, hehe.

I like you.

I like YOU.

Yeah, I can't even imagine what my episode reactions would have been like had I been around during S4. I imagine there would have been smoke pouring off my keyboard from the RAGE.

My biggest fear for S7 is that the writers listen to the fans and give the majority what they apparently want -- schmoopy domestic life for Dean. Which would make Sam the focus of the series and you know, I think Sera would be juuuuust fine with that.

God, he is. I can't believe how many people find Ben 2.0 appealing or his scenes in 6.14 "touching." I wanted to give him a good spanking -- and we don't believe in spanking our kids.
