This was an interesting read. I guess it's a similar tale with a lot of stuff abroad. Once you're over the first hurdle it all becomes a lot easier. Hope you're ok now!
And yeah, you're right. Once you've done a scary, new thing once, you sort of get the gist of it, and it feels easier afterwards. Doesn't always make it any less scary the next time around, but it varies.
I'm on a seven day antibiotics cure. The pills make me really loopy, so I apologise in advance for any strange tweets that may show up the next week XD
It's only the first day of the antibiotics cure, but I got medication a lot earlier this time so hopefully the pain won't get as bad as it did in June!
You know, Japan and Germany have many similarities like that! In Norway, however, you have to hand over the cup directly to the nurse or doctor. At least in my experience, they usually wait right outside the door. It's awkward! Most of the GPs I've dealt with in Norway have asked me to BRING MY OWN URINE SAMPLE FROM HOME. AAAAH. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?????? Have you ever ridden on public transport with a jar of urine in your bag? I HAVE. I hope you'll never have to.
Oh God, Norway... That's indeed awkward, even if you alone know what's in your bag. Still ... awkward. Let's hope I never have to. It's intriguing that Japan and Germany are similar in many things while so far apart, and Norway and Germany so different while geographically a lot closer.
I was always hoping the contents wouldn't spill in my bag >___<. Terrible system, hahaha.
It is! And lots of Japanese universities (including the one I studied at back in 2007) offer German lessons/studies! I'd love to learn more about the relationship too.
ahhh I remember you going through all this at the time D: but, again glad it worked out.
It's really interesting hearing how different it is and what they do there! at my general practitioner (GP) surgery the appointments usually take a week or more unless I'm lucky and pick a good time to show up (I can't call because of nerves and go in person).
but, often after I've suffered for a few days and built up the courage to go and waited for the appointment I annoyingly am usually ok then just get some skin medication.
When I went last time for the similar symptoms to you I was sent away with a sample tube and got too shy to use the dr's toilet, walked down the street to get some lunch & find a public restroom, then ended up going back to use the dr's bathroom before the nurse appointment lol.
anyway I hope this medication helps you get over the infection soon. get well and rest!!! 🎃
Very interesting. I've wondered how the health care system works in other countries. I can't imagine how stressful it would be to need to see a doctor in a place where you've never had to figure out how the heath care system worked.

As for peeing into a cup in Japan - what you described is pretty much the exact same procedure in Germany. ;)
