Woohoo!!! I experienced similar excitement when I bought my little Mitsubishi Mirage in Dec 2005. And you know? I haven't caught public transport since. Heeheehee..
Yay for first cars!!!!! Up yours public transport!!
I had two other cars before this one but they weren't mine. They belonged to my ex. And they were old and unreliable. This is the first one that is truly mine and under ten years old.
I was in the same position when I bought my Mirage. My very first car I borrowed from a friend for 6 months. It was a Red rustbucket Mazda 626, affectionately named Slut, because she did 40 up a hill and tended to slow down when a cute boy was walking up the street. My second car was a Mitsubishi Sigma that cost me $350. The windscreen leaked when it rained and she'd had a bad accident before I bought her, so one side was dented and rusted up. I panel beated her myself and spent a total of $170 on parts for her to get her looking decent. She was named Bitch, coz she was a bitch to drive and a bitch to wash, coz she was white. I ended up selling her for $500 nearly a year later. I then went 12 years without a car until I bought my little Mirage for $11,000 cash. Such a proud moment. Even though she's had two previous owners, she's in beautiful condition and is a 2002 model. Her name is Snuffles. Mainly because my mum calls Mitsubishi's "sneeze cars" (Say Mitsubishi really fast and it sounds like you're sneezing) LOL
