I don't like false appearances. I don't appreciate the insincerity that these events promote. Even if it's in the name of diplomacy.

But even so, I realize that this "prom" is supposed to be a light-hearted gathering and nothing more.

I hardly believe everyone who will attend would be 'insincere'. You should really give people less of your judgment and a little more of your faith. After all, we cannot progress as people without others placing their reliance into us, yes?

My faith is sorely lacking and for good reason. I have only been disappointed by what I've seen so far.

And those that I extend any sort of trust to are far and few between.
