This is all very sad, but i am always surprised that people pinpoint the ordination of women and the more recent disputes over the church's attitudes toward homosexuality as being the starting point for Anglicans being "one big unhappy family". There have been disputes in Anglicanism for as long as there have been Anglicans, and sometimes they have led to groups splitting off from the main body.

What I myself don't get is why the issues currently being disputed are any more crucial to the church than issues which have been disputed before them - it seems very arbitrary and strange to me.

Perhaps it is discomfort with the political situation in the US? But then, people are always willing to seize onto anything that they think will keep them safe.

What I think is interesting that nobody (or at least, the paper didn't quote) anyone saying, we're going to have a prayer session about this, or mention anything about prayer. I guess that's that's a paper's preogative, but it makes me wonder.
