Icons: TW (Jack/Ianto)

Jan 28, 2008 13:57

Made some more Torchwood icons yesterday. There's a HUGE Ianto batch coming up, but I thought I'd get the Jack/Ianto ones out of the way first. Enjoy!

I'm taking number 17, because although I've seen this kiss in other icons, I've never seen it as vivid and clear and beautiful as you have made it.

It's lovely, as are all the others.

That was exactly what I wanted to achieve! You have no idea how many times I had to retry before I had a proper cap of the hand. It's all about the hand.

those icons are *really* nice!
just one question... I dled PS CS3 and I only got into it about yesterday since the programm is seriously complicated. I actually wanted to ask you how you get you icons so sharp, for the lack of a better word. I sharpen my pics and play with the contrast but it seems the more contrast I have in the end result the blurrier the pic becomes as icon... do you maybe have an idea how that can be and how to not get there?
any advice would be great *looks hopeful*

Well, I use several tricks to achieve that effect. First of all, I sharpen the picture before I resize it to 100x100. Then, most of the time, I use the Blur Tool to make the skin smooth if necessary, so you can have sharpness in all the right places without the pixely faces (...I'm such a rhyme wonder!). And if a picture's still too sharp for my taste, I use a slight Gaussian Blur om my Screen Layer (I like to fiddle around with Screen and Soft Light layers), which gives it this dreamy glow.

Hope that helps!

wow... you really know your stuff *is in awe*
when you resize your pic... how do you do that? I mean I tried with cropping but either I'm really dumb or the programm just doesn't do what I tell it to do coz when I resize it, virtually nothing happens... I was getting very frustrated *nods*
the blur tool is really cool... found that one already and used it some... still going to take some time though lol.

I use a slight Gaussian Blur om my Screen Layer (I like to fiddle aro
und with Screen and Soft Light layers),

do you have to dl those seperately or are they already in the programm? I looked everywhere (or maybe not lol) and had to give up at some point... hm.

thanks a lot for the help :) It's really appreciated *smile*

Photoshop can be really confusing ^^. I'll try to explain. Right, cropping. Just to be sure, here's a pic of how to do that.
