Siri sat on the stool in Master Yoda’s meditation chamber, watching the ancient Jedi Master. He hadn’t said a word to her since leaving the Room of a Thousand Fountains, seemingly content to sit in silence. Siri took another deep breath and tried to center herself, to attempt to achieve a state of peace that had been hard to reach as of late.

“Much about your past, you have not been told,” he finally said, breaking the silence. Siri did her best not to fidget under his intense gaze. “Tell most younglings something of their past, we do, in order to connect them with their culture. But with you, did this, we did not.” Siri nodded slowly. Yoda paused, his eyes looking off in the distance.

“Given to us, you were, as a newborn,” Yoda continued, looking down at the gimmer stick in his hands. “On a distant planet bordering Wild Space. Traveling, I was, when I sensed a great disturbance in the Force, as if a planet ripping itself a part, it was. Traveled quickly, I did, to this planet, only to be greeted with a curious sight.” Siri shivered slightly at Master Yoda’s words. There was something familiar about them, but it was like remembering something from a dream.

“Empty, the planet was, except for one place,” Yoda continued, looking back up at Siri. “One town, there was, broken and crumbling. A tower in the center was the only intact building. Surrounding the tower, in turmoil the Force was, in ways I have not seen before or since. Alone, I was. Or so I thought.

“A man, dressed in strange clothing, at the bottom of the tower, standing he was. Approached me, he did, and when he drew closer, an infant I saw in his arms.” Master Yoda paused again, his ancient green eyes studying Siri. “You, it was. Told me very little, he did, other than that once a great warrior you were, and a great warrior you would be again. Told me to keep secret your past from the Order, and to tell you only when the time was right. Before he left, told me your name, he did.”

“Did... did this man say anything else?” Siri asked. There was something that she was missing, something important if she wanted to discover what in the name of the Force was happening to her. She could feel it on the edge of her mind, but just out of her reach. “Did he give you his name?”

“Only the name of the planet,” Yoda answered, a look of sad understanding on his face. “Called it Terra, he did, although another name he did mention, a most curious name--Earth. No record of either names there is in any of the Temple Archives”

Siri frowned. Again, there was that sense that she was forgetting something important. The names sounded familiar, but she had no idea as to where she might have heard them before.

“Nothing else to tell you, I have,” Yoda added, a hint of regret in his voice. “Your own journey, this is, Padawan Tachi, and little there is we can do to help you.” Siri recognized a dismissal when she heard one, so she got to her feet and gave Master Yoda a small bow.

“Thank you for the information, Master Yoda,” she thanked him quietly. “You’ve given me much to think about.”

“Remember, Padawan, although this journey is your own, make it alone, you do not,” Yoda’s voice called out to her as she was leaving. Siri turned around and nodded her head, a small smile on her face.

“I’ll keep that in mind, Master Yoda.” She gave him one last bow of her head and quickly exited his meditation chamber. She paused for a moment, undecided as to her path. A wave of exhaustion suddenly hit her, and she made her decision. Her Master, Adi Gallia, was currently off-planet on a sensitive Council mission, which left Siri alone in their apartment. She managed to make it there without encountering any of her acquaintances, which was harder than it sounded in a building the size of the Jedi Temple. It was like each Jedi had a sensory type thingamajig that honed in on their friends and made running into them in the Temple easier.

There was that language again, the language that was both familiar and unfamiliar to her. It was starting to make her head hurt.

Curling up on her bed, Siri soon drifted off to sleep. And while she slept, Siri Tachi dreamed of Earth.
