Zeke was working his shift on the cruise ship as it pulled into the port where it was going to be picking up the last load of passengers before it set sail for the resort it was heading towards. He made his way towards the ramp as he was one of the ones who were to help people carry their bags onto the ship. He waited patiently in the rain as he covered his eyes with his hand above them so that he could see everything. There were a few people here but not as many as he had expected. His t-shirt was starting to stick to his body and it was something that got on his nerves quite a bit but you had to do what you had to do.
He waited for the ramp to be lowered before making his way off the ship and heading to the first ones in line.
As Aaron saw the ramp connected to the dock he rose stiffly from his makeshift seat and stretched languidly, working out all of the kinks and not completely satisfied until he heard at least three separate pops- getting older was such a bitch. Picking up his simple overnight canvas bag and throwing a somewhat large backpack over his shoulder, Aaron let a few ladies go first before stepping into line. There was only ten people who seemed to be boarding, mostly women which seemed to be taking forever to get their things together but Aaron didn't mind, he was a severely patient man. He was behind a gray haired woman having some trouble with her large array of luggage and a boy (he couldn't have been older than 25!) was trying to help but it looked like a rather large and heavy bag was about to fall into the water. Stepping up quickly, Aaron easily caught the bag and threw it over his other shoulder, smirking down at the boy and giving the little lady a polite nod. "Need some help kiddo?"
Zeke didn't know what the man was trying to prove by helping him and calling him kiddo. He was use to doing this kind of work but struggled to get the bags loaded up every now and then. Maybe the guy was just being polite though so he took it for what it was worth. He looked from the little lady after wondering what all she had packed and if she had included the kitchen sink, before his attention went to the older man.
"Um, thanks man." he said grabbing the rest of her bags along with the people in front of her and heading up the ramp staying right near the guy helping him out.
"No prob, Bob," Aaron said with a grin, easily carrying her heavier-than-life bag along with both of his own, silently impressed with how much the kid could handle. He walked up the ramp beside the boy, following after the gaggle of ladies, the two honeymooners, and an older lesbian couple. Aaron looked over to the boy and couldn't help but talk- well, he probably could, but that wasn't his M.O.
"Why not just use a trolly or something? You're gonna screw up your back over time, then you'll start to stoop and slouch," Aaron said in a very serious tone, hunching over himself as if to demonstrate, his steps becoming heavier as he stomped up the ramp.
"No no, it's fine. The others just has to take their bags to where we did and then they'll be showing everyone around to where they are going to be going. Then we'll get the group together and give them a tour of the boat so they don't get lost anymore than they already look." he chuckled continuing on till he got to a door to the inside.
"You've got a window facing the ocean so I hope you don't get sea sick." he said grinning mischievously.
"Will you hold back my hair if I toss my cookies?" Aaron asked in a sickly sweet voice before grinning widely and opening the door when the kid stopped in front of it. Stepping inside, Aaron let out a low whistle as he took in his new little home away from home- not that he ever had much of a home, more like a home base whenever he got free time away from work and where neighbors came to look after his brown plants and anti-social animals. As he walked a little further in Aaron caught the scent of something sweet, too sweet, but it was gone as soon as it had arrived so he decided not to mention it. Aaron tossed his over night bag onto the bed before turning to look back at his new little friend.
"I'll hold our hair back only if we can get someone to clean up the mess I'd end up making from seeing you blowing chunks." he laughed as he looked around the room as well to make sure that Aaron had everything that he should have such as towels and pillows. It was then that he remembered he hadn't introduced himself to the other man yet.
He extended his hand to him, "by the way I'm Zeke." he said watching Aaron's posture and his movements.
"'Zeke'?" Aaron repeated, stepping closer and grasping the kid's hand in a firm but paradoxically gentle handshake. "Cool name, your parents gave you that? I'm Aaron Starks, but I guess you already gathered that from your superior bell hop senses," Aaron couldn't help but tease a little, knowing full well his bags carried two large name tags bearing, of course, his name. He assumed that was how the kid, Zeke, had figured out which cruiser he was. "I suppose we should go check on the other party animals out there?" He asked with a grin, always eager to explore but not really wanting to share the cute boy in his room.
