As I remember, Touch Attack

Combat touch (eg Cause Wounds) off strength
Ranged Touch (Eg Bolt spells) off Dex

Dump Stats Normally its Int (though you lose out on those lovely skills) or dex since you can wear pretty much any armour.

remember 9-11 is basic human stats so not actually bad just not above average.

Yea melee touch attacks = strength based, ignore armour

ranged = dex

touch attacks are easy, and yea if you got a good strength just go round punching people for cause serious wounds ;)

and full plate and shield will make you not need dex. Well in the main.

See lex you think halforc loincloth, we think halforc tanks. Much better :P
must encase him in armour in teh night. In fact you can get away with a breastplate +5AC, +3 max dex
much more like the idea of us in ragged and blatantly battered and stolen and odd pieces of plate than a bit of leather cloth over our knackers.

Ps scav, we have a background.Ha! In your face non halforcs! ;)

I think there's a feat that allows you to use Dex for touch attacks - at least I'm sure that's what I used as my necro

Depends how feat-hungry your current char is, but Smiting Spell from PHB2.

Requires +1 BAB and CL 1, increases the slot used by 1 and delivers on next successful hit (within 1 min) with a weapon.

Could always go for the other cleric metamagic feat that lets you use turn attempts instead of increasing spell level on metamagic as well, then by 5th you'd be able to do 3d8+5 ontop of your weapon damage.

Pg 80 Complete Divine.

It's only one metamagic spell it works for, which is the downside. Best used on something you're gonna use craploads (like the above if you used Dex as a dump stat) or on something really versatile like Empower Spell (it's rare that Maximise is better than Empower and it's one level more expensive).

Of course, tailor your build to get into Incantrix PrC early enough and then use some of your bonus metamagics on divine x2, empower and max and by 10th level you'll be doing (4*8+10) * 1.5 = 63 damage guaranteed on an inflict Crit.
