It shouldn’t be easy, carving into your own skull like a jack o’-lantern. Danko watches, his eyes rounded, shining orbs, and he’s thinking you’re an unfeeling, inhuman monster when the shape shifter’s brains spill out like sticky, wet pumpkin guts.
Maybe if you had a heart, had a soul, had something more than an empty pit inside your aching chest, killing someone with your face would make you feel… anything more than that odd, yet familiar boiling in your insides.
It’s only until later, when she’s in your skin (you’re in hers?), that you realize it felt like punishment. Regret.
