I do wonder why VIII isn't as popular, though. Sure, it's popular in it's own right... but compared to FFVII, it has a happy ending! Aren't happy endings <3?
My best guess is that it has a canon pairing. Like, undeniably, shoved down your throat canon. In fact, most of the game is ABOUT the development of said pairing.
In most games they just put blunt hints about which girl, but give some hints to the other girls. I think. I dunno. o.o
Point taken. Not much subtext left for slash. No wonder people hate Rinoa.
And then, BUCKETS of angst all around! Yuffie's Mom/country/kicked out of her home as a kid, Vincent in general, Nibelheim burning for Tifa, Cloud in general... yeah. xD And then there's FFVIII, with some romance and weird memory kicks. That no one really cares about, in the end.
Lowest price is sixty bucks? O___O I'm going to have a fainting spell of horror, here...I got mine for like, sixteen bucks at Gamestop. A year ago. And it's the original pretty non-green special hits version...
I found it at a GameStop (at the time, still EB Games), used, so I suggest hitting resale stores and the like, off the internet. Because I swear to you I didn't pay more than twenty bucks for it, if that.
I just looked up FF7 used on Google and of course Ebay just popped up. I do believe my heart tried to die on me. O_O That's just...insane...are they not selling the greatest hits version anymore?
Dang. Sixty bucks is too much...if I knew how to copy game disks I'd just offer to copy them and send them to you. O.o Because no one should have to pay that much.
If I can find someone to take me, I'll go around some stores and play psycho girl looking for the one specific game. xD And, nope, no Greatist Hits for under $200. It's whacked.
I have the computer version of ff7... There's nothing wrong with it, it just is an older game and doesn't run well on the comps I have now. So maybe it'll run on yours? I could see about making a copy ...or hell, sending the original (only slightly used) to you for your birthday?
I'm debating this in my head. On one hand, GAME. On the other... well, could you? If it wouldn't bother you or anything... where are my better icons, wtf.
I also have ff8 for the computer which I am not using nor interested in using...
My games should be in good condition. The ff8 one has only been used once. The ff7 one a few times. I can't find the ff7 book, but I don't think it came with one.
If you want these, then I'll send em to you for xmas/birthday.
If I say yes, will it sound like begging? oh wait i am.
Um. Talked to my Dad. He said if a theoretical person of my acquaintance whom he had looked at written works for (he kinda blinked at that- nice, Daddy, show what a lousy memory you have and gave to your poor daughter) and if I was sure wasn't a theoretical person who would cause trouble for me, I could give out our address.
...this was a very long and confusing conversation. He was Not Happy when I said that I've been using my last name in my email for years.
Well, I know that you're definitely not expecting a comment from me XDD Since I usually don't hit up personal journals with my writing one... but. I can explain really easily why VII is so expensive. 8D
VII was actually banned in the U.S. Because the first mission of the game entails you helping a terrorist group (AVALANCHE) to blow something up-- it was apparently Not All Right with the government. So because it was banned, they don't produce games any more, and it's getting really hard to find a copy of one out there that works. 8D I got one of the black-label not-Greatest-Hits version ones a year or two back, and it set me back around $70 for it.
I would recommend checking eBay for it, to be honest. ^^;; It's pretty easy to find on there, though I can't guarantee the price.
That seems... odd. After all, Gundam Wing isn't black listed. Interesting.
The closest thing I can find to any possible reason is some rumors about a PS3 remake of the game. Which Square has denied releasing any information about, but I haven't seen anywhere where they have outright denied remaking the game. Just releasing the information. And if they WERE remaking the game, cutting back production of the original doesn't seem too far off in regards to marketing.
Those rumors are exactly that--rumors :) Square used it in order to make a demo of how high the quality of the PS3 was going to be (and I'll admit, it was gorgeous), but that's all it was-- a demo and an example. Just after it, people started putting out the rumors of a PS3 remake.
At any rate, there have been rumors of a remake for years-- I at least remember them since fall 2005-- and so far, no dice. :) So I'm not hoping high.
Yeah, I remember. But the rumors have been coming out again because of the tenth anniversary party Squeenix had. They said, "And the best is yet to come!" So people are running around thinking that mebbe they're gonna do the remake after all. xD
I dunno. I seriously don't spend too much time wandering the FF sites 'cause I don't own any of the games. Ahah. Irony. It takes not owning the games for me to go trolling~

I prefer VIII, though.

Huh. Either way, odd.
