Regulus had received the message to dress appropriately, though it was given in much pleasanter tone. He came out of his room in the proper attire, running into his sister on her way down the stairs.
"Will you tell me why we're at the Black's residence?"
Evan's brow was furrowed as he directed his question at Rosy, who looked as elegant and lovely as always in custom-made dress robes that hugged every curve and line of her body.
"You'll find out soon enough, sweetling." Her voice was a velvety purr and she reached out to run a hand through his hair before gliding after their older brother, Emyrs, and their parents as they all made their way into parlor where Mr. and Mrs. Black were waiting.
Evan stifled a disgruntled sigh, irritated with how she always treated him like an infant. He straightened his own dress robes, just as expensive and exquisitely tailored as hers, and walked in after his family.
Whatever this night would bring, it was sure to be interesting.
Interesting was a bit of an understatement. But that would all come later.
With a shrug, Ceara lead the way down to the parlor. "It's clean. It covers everything. It's totally appropriate." Riiiight. Except for the part where it wasn't. Which became abundantly clear by the look on Walburga's face when the pair entered.
She opened her mouth, as if to order Ceara back upstairs, but at the last minute decided against it. Let the girl dig her own grave.
Walburga had hoped with Sirius gone that Regulus would be able to turn his sister around. But it seemed Ceara was the one influencing Regulus. She wouldn't allow it. She couldn't allow it. They could not end up with another blood traitor in the family.
Druella was right. This was for the best. It was the only way to keep her.
