Jamie just posted this in a bulletin and I got an idea...
i just read the first page of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky. A few different people have told me to read this book recently. Anyway, i was blow away, and here's my idea:
What if we read this book together?
You: "Like a book club?"
Maybe, i dunno. i've never been in a book club (or started one...)
But what if we all (whoever wants to) read it at the same time? We talk a lot about not being alone, being in it together, etc... and i like the idea of a whole bunch of us, in a thousand different places, reading this book, feeling whatever we feel, finding whatever we find, but doing it together, and knowing that in that moment, we're not alone and we're part of a bigger thing.
And then who knows, maybe i could write about it in the blogs and then you guys can chime in. Would be sweet if we had a forum for stuff like this... we don't yet but it's part of the plan. Someday not so far away.
Here's the second, third and fourth paragraphs on the opening page of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower":
"I just need to know that someone out there listens and understands and doesn't try to sleep with people even if they could have. i need to know that these people exist.
I think you of all people would understand that because i think you of all people are alive and appreciate what that means. At least i hope you do because other people look to you for strength and friendship and it's that simple. At least that's what I've heard.
So, this is my life. And i want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be."
Anyway, let me know how this sounds. Should we read this book together? Please leave comments below, or send a message if you feel more comfortable doing that. (We prefer comments, but we also respect your privacy.)
On to page 2...

PS: Part of this might be the fact that i am pretty A.D.D. and have trouble finishing books. I think/hope that I would be much more likely to actually read if i was part of a book club, or you know, reading a book with a bunch of other people at the same time.
SO, my idea. How about we do a monthly read for this community to keep us active? We'll pick an inspiring book that we all reccomend/vote on each month and read it/discuss it. Have a monthly post for it. Opinions?
