Friday night was my sisters Senior Recital (a whole hour of her playing flute and piano). As she is going to a music school, this was like some super final. If she didn't pass she wouldn't be able to graduate. So the familiy picked me up after work and we met up with the sister. Now... she has been practicing for this Recital for months. One of the songs was a duet with a guitar and she got permission to have my Dad play it with her. So he has also been practicing this for months. They were both very nervous and though their duet started off shaky by the end they had really pulled it together and it sounded awesome. I took vids, I'll post them on youtube if my sis and dad ok it. The rest of the recital was great too of course. The last three songs were done with a quartet with paino, flute, stand up base, and drums. Go figure though my camera was out of space by then. XD
After the recital we went to Frankos (YUMMEH ITALIAN ZOMG GOOD)
In the car on the way home my dad was playing the demo tapes of their old band "Electric Word." And they started talkin' about it, the band, the songs, the gigs, the practice etc. etc. Now I knew my parents had a band when we were kids, and I knew some of the music, and I can vaugely remember some of the band members and their kids. However, I didn't know that Electric Word had been on the radio. Or on TV three times for that matter. Not to mention what they were getting paid for gigs. Holy cow I didn't realize how successful their band had been lol. Jojo started up a conversation about band members and genre with the parents and I was just like "our family could be our own band, we could be the "Realy Rockers" and they all laughed and a great idea for a xmas present to the family popped into my head. ^.^
Saturday after a haircut and a trip to the vet, jojo and I went back out to my appartment and I spend the entire night doing homework. I got a lot done and I'm excited to keep working on this project. It's lookin' good.
Sunday after the obligitory church goin' and the tastey mexican food that follows, my family impulsively decided to get tickets for the Transiberian Orchestra concert. So we did. And we went. And it was good. It was both touching, and rockin'. I didn't realize it'd be so guitar driven but it was. Of course that made my dad enjoy it even more lol.
Overall I had an awesome weekend with the family and was re-inspired to keep at my violin playing. I want to get good enough to deserve an electric violin. Then I can rock out with the rest of my family.
