"But why did I think it would be a good idea to pursue a career in art? Now I'm letting myself down. Now, something I love and enjoy is a reminder of my failing at life."

Yeah, but you know what's funny about that line of thinking? If you had chosen something else to make a career out of, you'd probably be having the same problem with it. Not to mean that in any negative way, it's just that the conditions of the world right now make it exceptionally difficult to chase a dream. I'm sure you'll catch a break in due time, just try not to let it get you down before then.

I believe in you. Career paths are often not as straight as we want them to be. Ronald Reagan started as an actor and ended up in politics. Dimitri Martin dropped out of law school to become a comedian and wasn't successful for ten years. Challenges and unexpected twists are what make the final reward worthwhile. You can do it. Hang in there. :)

PS - Thanks for not always kicking my butt in trading card games, chess, numerous sports, martial arts, music etc...

Well, maybe I should take chess out of that list. You did kick my butt every time but I suck at chess. :P
