Very lovely! This is a brilliant little glimpse into the both the events and the Doctor's psyche. And the writing is gorgeous. Your style fits this fandom so well. Somehow, even the writing is a little bit melancholy.

He awoke in a new body. Tired. Weak. Cursing himself and his regeneration. By rights he should be dead; extinct like the people he couldn't save. It wasn't fair, but the universe never was, and he knew that.

Love those lines. It really suits the mood the 9th Doctor seems to carry with him.
