Alnwick Castle isn't under siege, precisely. Under siege would imply the castlefolk being hunkered down while surrounded. The Americans gathered outside haven't got the numbers any more to surround the castle; they're just lined up along the road, their weapons trained on the place where their commander died. As for the castlefolk, they're on the ( Read more... )

A red-and-blue longnose Peterbilt truck follows Quinn out, and then behind the Mack truck is a glossy black pickup truck. They look in absolutely perfect condition, the paint shiny and news.

The windshields are darkened, and the Americans can't see who's driving them.

Nor can they see the little Autobot symbol where the crest of the manufacturer would be, either...

Creedy's been on an enforced break for the last hour or so(enforced by everyone else manning the battlements on the grounds of him needing sleep as much as the next man and without it), but the commotion gets him out of his already-light sleep and has him running out with a pair of binoculars to see--

"...holy hell."

Anyone who can see Quinn can see that he hasn't got any weapons on him. That's... that's interesting, that is. Several of the Americans train their weapons on him regardless, but the American captain raises a hand.

"I cannot wait to hear this," he says. "All right, Quinn, stop where you are."

Quinn (who is trying with all his might to ignore the pounding in his ears; he might have backup now, but this is still an uneasy situation) obeys, and looks up at the American.

There is silence for a time. Finally, the American says, "Well?"

Somehow, Quinn manages a smile. "We're going to London," he says.

"Are we," the American answers flatly.

"Well, the three of us are, for sure," Quinn says, gesturing towards the vehicles behind him. "You're welcome to come with us if you like, though."

The two vehicles move in a way that machines normally do not.

And by that, we mean they shift, and parts rearrange themselves, and there is the sound of metal against metal.

And then there are two robots there, one about thirty-five feet tall, and one about twenty-five feet tall.

The taller one appears to be unarmed.

The shorter has a pair of massive cannons mounted on the back of its hands, and the right cannon has missles racked around it.

The taller one says, politely, "Would you care to join us in cleaning up your mess?"
