Catholic theology-- being a recovering catholic, I can safely say that I think that class would suck. No insult to practicing catholics, I just find that religion to be based all too much on intolerance and repression.
I'd suggest Christian Theology and the moral life. I thought it was easy and the books were ok.
You had Christian Theology and the Moral Life with Santurri? Is there any way you could give me an idea what it is about? The description seemed very broad.
Definitely, I'm not a Catholic, though I have friends who are. It's interesting because a few of my Catholic friends are extremely liberal (not typical perhaps). But I can see where you get the intolerance and repression side as well. Did you grow up in the Catholic church?
I had it with Shurman... I don't think I spelled that right... so I'm not sure if it will be taught the same way with someone else. WHen I took it, we discussed a lot of theology stuff-- Kant, Luther, etc. It lacked good moral debate but I understand that you can't debate on a lot of "moral" issues and not get a class really riled up.
My parents are catholic and I still attend mass once in a while. Less a desire to go and do mass, more a chance to spend time with dad. I have a tough time respecting a religion that refuses to treat women decently or even acknowledge alternative lifestyles. Still, I can't step back and pretend that it isn't a piece of who I was raised to be.
Roman Catholic Theology with Gailbraith...I've heard only good things. And Kierkegaard is really hard and annoyed the hell out of me because I don't understand ANYTHING about philosophy...but Marino is cool as hell. And if you get a chance to go to his boxing club, do, because it kicks ass. I miss boxing.
I went with Christian Theology and the Moral Life. It should be good, at least I hear, and hopefully beneficial. I hope I can take Galbraith again before I graduate, too. Thanks for the help guys!
