A Bootstrap/Jack community. Yesssssssssssss. Yessssssssssssss! XD

I wanted to post this a while ago (it was completed a week after the film came out), but I got freaked out by the sudden proliferation of underwater!Bootstrap fics. Anyhow, this is my first fanfic and written as a sort of preparation for a longer Bootstrap/Jack prequel.

This is actually the first Underwater!Bootstrap that I've read, and it's quite well done. I keep getting into debates with people over the nature of the curse and whether he's 'alive' or dead.

Good piece! Enjoyable piece. I look foward to seeing what else you come up with. ^_^ Of note, I wanted to point out that Bill and Jack didn't come to the Caribbean until ten years ago, Gibbs says the first time Jack is seen in Tortuga is when he comes from European waters in search of the Aztec treasure. Bill's wife likely spent her whole life in England, as she died there, and eight years before the movie starts Will comes over to the Caribbean looking for Bill as a cabin boy on a merchant vessel that, as we see, sinks. So you probably want to change that to the name of an European town, for canon accuracy. The timeline itself is kind of tricky.

This is a good point, though it seems to me that Jack was around before that. Gibbs says "Not much is known about Jack Sparrow before..." (if I remember correctly), which could mean many things, and Bootstrap wasn't necessarily part of the Pearl's crew then, so he was free to wander about the Caribbean. ^^;;

But I'll still change it, because I also believe that Bootstrap's wife never left England. Thanks for pointing it out.

Damn, this is an important issue. My impression was that Jack was around in the Caribbean (where else would he learn the location of the Aztec gold?) but not famous (possibly because he didn't act nearly as daft in those days?).

Argh, complicated. Must...find...copy...of...script.

I believe so as well. Possibly he was not captain for very long, and logically it is mostly captains who are famous. If you find the script, though, please tell me! ^^;;
