i think you'll probably feel differently about tinkering with your own bike "just for fun" when you do it all day, but it sounds like quite rewarding work - it's quite a logical process that leads to broken things becoming fixed. hopefully you'll have your dad's ability-to-fix-anything genes too.

also, if you're in a shitty mood you don't have to deal with annoying people all day. you can just hit bikes with spanners :)
