Bodhidharma Day

Now that it is after midnight, it is now Bodhidharma Day. Since most people don't know Zen Buddhism very well let alone Bodhidharma I thought I'd put some information up for everybody.

I was surprised at how detailed the Wikipedia entry was. I do like the little comments about how certain things are "unlikely". Bodhidharma was an advocate of the use of tea for staying awake during meditation. I know from personal experience that at times it can be difficult to stay awake while meditating.

I can't actually have caffeine so I haven't had any in over 3 years. I still have difficulty staying awake during meditation at times because I'm usually either doing it early in the morning or late in the evening.

Possibly, it mostly depends upon whether or not he is a Zen Buddhist since Bodhidharma Day is only honoured by Zen and not other Buddhists (as far as I know).
