It’s hard to fathom what goes on in the mind of the insane. He kept killing - scores of unarmed kids, and not just from afar with some push-button bomb, but in-person, face to face, all the while knowing what he was doing an atrocity by his own words. Breivik also said it was somehow “necessary” which, even when completely ignoring morality, still has no basis in reality. I highly doubt Norwegian politics will suddenly shift to the right, let alone the extreme right, due to any of his actions -- if anything, it may have the opposite effect and strengthen resolve in moderate democratic ideals. In the end, his only legacy will be sorrow and despair. Why? It may never be fully explained apart from...he’s insane.
