Believe it or not, the Stephanie Barron books are pretty good. She has a good grasp of the period, a decent characterization of Jane, and the mysteries are entertaining. I think she also does a good job of using the actual facts of Jane's life.
Can't help you with the Regencies, though considering my love for the period, I should probably try some. I love Regency-style fics, after all (thought the ones I would rec are the ones you've already read, looks like).
Thanks for letting me know about the Barron books. Looking forward to them. And you should definitely check out Georgette Heyer -- it's all just light and fluffy, with no redeeming social value, but sometimes you need that, you know?
I'm no help with Regency romances, since my knowledge of good ones starts and ends with Heyer. But I will point you toward Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey and Maturin books, if you haven't read them yet. It's... a different kind of love. *g* They're brilliant stuff, once you get past the vocabulary acquisition. And, of course, Naomi Novik's Temeraire series.
If you don't mind jumping back, oh, several centuries, I also very much liked Roberta Gellis's historical romances, though they're really more historical novels than typical romances, even though each is built around a particular couple.
Thanks for the recs! I've read many of the Aubrey/Maturin books and love them with a mad passion. The problem is that I'm finding the battle scenes are a little too intense intense for me right now. I'm craving light fluffy romances.
If you haven't read it, you should check out the astolat story I linked to. It's Aubrey/Maturin, slightly AU with all kinds of magic and stuff. An excellent read! although i had to skim through the battle scenes.

I have an aunt who has all the Georgette Heyers, and then some. I'll have to borrow some from her.
