Today does not whine. Today rocks.

I just erased a huge and whiny post about all the things that are making me miserable right now. I'm sure everyone's got their own miseries (not least of which is daylight saving time) and I'm tired of whining. Instead, I bring you:

Top Three Excellent Things About Today:1. Ben does not have feline leukemia. We took him to the vet last week for ( Read more... )

Ummm......... I didn't have to pay for parking when I went to the doctor this morning? Yeah, that's about it. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a big something, since there's very little parking, and it was the last spot on a nearby street (the street it's on had none) and the meter was jammed - it's usually $2/hour (in CHANGE - that's a lot of change) so now I've got all those coins for another parking meter...

I live in Toronto. I would never belittle the excellence of free parking! Plus, you have that giant fresh thingy!

Hopefully it is fresh! Still waiting for the phone call that lets me know what to do. ARGH.

I hate waiting for the phonecall! I hate not knowing what to do. And if I wasn't determined to avoid whining today, I would tell you about the recent fuckwittedness of the people at my clinic. Let's just say it's a good thing I can advocate for myself. *mutter*

President Obama's attitude towards science is one of the things I love best about him. I'm sure a lot of folks who are scientists or who interact with the scientific world have similar stories: Working in an Earth and Ocean Sciences department, it was painful to watch paleontology (and sedimentology, a field with which paleo is intertwined) funding and research take a nose dive over the previous eight years.

I have my own share of whine today, so yes, let's focus on the good things!

1. A new part in a story I'm enjoying appeared this morning.

2. Thanks to being a dedicated person last night, I have one of my favorite lunches to enjoy today. Mmmmm, pineapple fried rice.

3. Of the 16 people I picked to make it to the Sweet 16 round of the Fandom Cage Match, 8 of them made it! \o/ Not bad, given that we had to make our predictions for all rounds back in the beginning, when there were 64 contenders!

My soul died a little having to pick between Ten and Mal today in the fandom cage match.

I have 3 left in the running, and I think Barney may be my only hope for the title.

Mmm. Rice. I need to get out of my lunch rut. Chicken wrap + raw veggies x every day = BORING!

I was glad to see Dean Winchester still in the running. Love me some Dean!

I think having the same thing every day, no matter how tasty, would get boring pretty fast! It's one major advantage of cooking for both of us--now that I feel I must make food for the week, I'm eating much better and with more variety, myself!

I too need to focus on excellent things today...

1) I had a yummy bagel and grapes for breakfast and actually managed not to break lent by going for the apple fritter instead.

2) I'm actually being quite productive today, which for a Monday is saying a lot. Especially a Monday after the whole 'clock switch of DOOM'.

3) I get to play with the new Macbook "Abby" when I get home from work tonight!

I envy you your Macbook. I'm SO tired of our broke-ass laptop and the desktop is in the office which is often FREEZING! Oh I have such horrific first world problems. *grin*

Very much yay! And his stool sample came back clear of parasites, so our little boy is just bursting with good health!
