Sugar-on-snow

One of my all-time favorite treats!

The Kitchener/Waterloo area is lovely but there is a lot of snow around the area in the winter. Have you ever been to the Maple syrup festival in Elimra? I know its in April but forget which weekend but its a lovely little festival.

I remembered the Elmira festival as lovely from when I was a kid - we used to go every year. Unfortunately, when K and I attempted to go last year, it was far from "little." The place was absolutely jammed by 8 a.m. with cars parked on both sides of the road for miles! We ended up turning around and buying our syrup from a Mennonite girl and her grandfather at a roadside stand, then spending the rest of the day at the market.
