To hold a secret or not depends on a lot of things including trust in the person you give the secret to. But trust is only one part. Is the person deserving of the secret? What will they do when they have it? All things you elude to. But why is it a secret and not shared? Secrets are kept out of fear or a want of power over. Boil any secret down and you arrive at one of the two. Am I afraid this person will abuse the secret? Will they hold this secret over someone?
