considering they were a marketing tool that was designed to look like a LITE UP CARTOON CHARACTER, and the fact that they've been up for about a month... in 10 different cities... I wouldn't call it a bomb-hoax
it was an LED board with 4 D-cell batteries on it. some bomb.
stupid over-reacting officials...

My comments were made without the full information that has since been made available. I was under the assumption based on early reports that bomb threats had been called in and that the devices may or may not have been hoaxes. Now that I have seen the "Suspicious Devices" I am amazed that such a panic was raised. Officials did not overreact, threats like this even if they border on the ridiculous should all be handled in a serious manner. Hopefully marketing agencies will learn from this as well and be more aware of the stupidity of people as a group.

the funny thing is all the news stations last night were saying how great the "Fast reaction of the authorities to get these devices under control"
well, they've been up for 3 to 4 weeks at this point... so 3-4 weeks is 'fast reaction to terrorist devices'
