Hello all, I was just looking about to see if TLU had a community here and voila! There is one! I'll be attending this fall as a freshman (;D woot to 2010!) so if anyone wants to pass on some tips or say hi, feel free to email me or whatever, I'd welcome some new friends, especially current students at TLU, so that I'll at least know a FEW people

It hurts my brain that the incoming freshmen won't graduate until 2010, but congrats on getting into TLU. Sorry, I'm not a current student. I graduated spring 2005. My suggestion is this: get involved with something. whether it's the choir, campus ministries, the band, APO, habitat for humanity, etc, just get involved. You'll have your roomies which will be like built in friends, but you'll want to be involved in more than just your classes, so you have a built in family as well. Trust me, it helps a lot. anyway, good luck!

Heh, yeah, after hearing '06 all during high school, seeing 2010 on my TLU info makes me feel like I just got younger -_-. Anyway, I'm double majoring in Theology and Psychology and minoring in music. What's your major? Heh, enjoy your brief break from school! (I'm at work right now -_-;; lol) See ya later!

I'm a music ed major with a Psych minor. I'm taking 13 hours this summer and working at Target on the weekends.*sighs* We all felt really young at some point in the beginning, but you'll be ok.:) Only one child never grows up and that's peter pan.lol.

Well, as often as they have girls play Peter Pan, I'd prefer not to ;P, as much fun as TLU sounds (I'm weird like that, learning Greek and Hebrew actually sounds like a good time). That's really cool that you're a music ed major though :D do you focus in an instrument or voice or both? A friend of mine is doing music ed. at Baylor, he's a really good percussionist (sp? lol my brain is fried, I'm super sick). But anyway, I think I may want to commit suicide after the first semester though, I took 17 hours x_X plus private lessons for my clarinet ^_^. Hopefully it'll be okay, Dr. Beck seemed confident I could handle it. Target's a fun store xD we don't have one where I live :3 (little itty bitty Bay City 1 1/2 hours south of Houston), so when we drive into Houston I'm always like ooooooo Starbucks... and bookstores! :D Lol. Bleck, I started rambling. Cold medicine = no brain = long-winded talking about nothing.

I'll be staying in Baldus dorms (dunno what room yet or who my roommate is), and I'm really interested in working with the Campus Ministry and the band, but other than that, I'm not sure of what else I should participate in. Any suggestions are good.

Dr. Beck is always confident that everyone can handle anything. He is a very sweet and positive man. Just basically get involved in anything that you can. I recommend leaving you door open in the halls because you meet people as they walk by.

Heh, yeah, I've heard a lot of people say you should leave your dorm room open, but my parents are like freaking out about it, saying all our stuff will get stolen. Has anyone ever had a problem with crime at TLU? Or even heard about any? I'd be really interested to know.

Well I don't think you will have any issues with stealing if you are in your room while the door is open. I would say that common sense dictates locking the door when you or your roomie arent there. There are instances of crime on the campus, but as long as you are smart, you will avoid it.
