Yup - this was written about me. Neo-Yuppie, what a lovely term.

This is why I didn't post it at Ashanti.

You and I just have different tastes. I thought it was funny. You find things funny that I don't as well. Doesn't make either of us wrong!

After watching this video, I'm a little confused about the intention of the person who created it

The cartoon guy is making fun of people ("yuppies") who feel uncomfortable using "Christmas" instead of "holidays". But since the individual who voices this view is portrayed as hot-tempered, confrontational, and foul-mouthed, isn't the video portraying him (and his point of view) at *least* as badly as he portrays the so-called yuppies?

Food for thought...

Really I'd have to watch it again to make a call, but to be honest, the four-letter words made me uncomfortable enough that I'm going to give it a pass.

In books with first-person narrators, you hear about events from the narrators' points of view. But an author may or may not share those points of view ( ... )

P.S. Sorry for the awkwardness. I tried to submit and LJ told me I'd overrun the character limit so I went back and cut wildly.

The section in the book where Huck is rapturous about some wretchedly bad poetry is worth checking out, too, as an example of the Twain vs. Huck points of view.

And I really regret running out of space to talk about chapter 31 - the way Huck deals with his moral dilemma there, and how the decision based on his newfound understanding proves how much he has grown since the early pages of the book. It actually brought me to tears when I read it. (A shame we generally read this stuff when we're too young to appreciate it. But maybe this will go back on my reading list once I'm done with the current stack. Thanks for the inspiration! :) )
