I'm back...

What a long weekend...I am so glad to be home. My entry is uber long so it's under the cut.

So Friday I was supposed to get off work at 1:00 but that didn't happen. I ended up getting out of there around 3:00...I needed to meet up with Kranky and Lisa in Cedar Falls and I still had to go home and pack for the trip to Lytton. So I raced home and packed as best I could and was on my way by a little after 4:00. Met up with the girls at the Queen's house and off we went to see Kenny Chesney! :) We got to the UNI-Dome, and after some fancy line jumping to get into the parking lot we got in just in time for the show. We even had some guy pay for our parking because I let him in line. See, good deeds do pay off! :)

Sugarland and Dierks were opening for him and they were good. I didn't know any Dierks songs except for the "feel like laying you down" one so I just kinda stood there and watched during him. Then fine ass Kenny got up there, and rocked it! He was so good! The only other interesting thing besides the stupid chicks standing in front of us, and the drunk ass people falling on us from behind, was the "fake Dierks" walking around in the stands. That loser was gonna cause some sort of riot! He had people climbing all over people to get to him, and he was signing autographs and taking pictures. It was crazy! Then this one lady in front of us, after Tonia and I told her it wasn't really him says to me "Oh, that makes it even worse that I practically killed you and your daughter trying to get to him"! AAAAHHHHHH!! Tonia is not my daughter, people!!! lol It probably wouldn't have bothered me so much if this was the first time...but it's not...#3. Hmmmm.

So concerts over and we get back to Tonia's Dad's house for the evening. And I apparently drew the short straw and got the air mattress with the hole in it. lol Oh well, I had a pillow and it wasn't outside so all was well.

After leaving there, I headed back to CR to pick up the hubby and head to Lytton. Well, Chris was trying to finish up some things around the house so we didn't get going until late. Got to Lytton, checked into the hotel and crashed....HARD!

Sunday we just kinda hung around Grandma's. People were coming and going for most of the day so we all stayed pretty busy. We had to be at the funeral home by 3:00 for the visitation. So we get there, and it looked beautiful. There were flowers everywhere and they had an American flag displayed in the casket. We were there for 5 hours, and there were SO many people. I couldn't believe it. No one could ever say that man wasn't loved that's for sure.

Monday morning was the funeral, and it was a very nice service. The preacher wasn't very prepared though and screwed up quite a few family names. It was actually quite humorous and took alot to not just bust out laughing during his butchered attempts. After the service, they took Grandpa to the cemetary on top of the Lytton fire truck. He was a member of the Lytton Fire Department for 30 years and the fire chief for 10 of those years, so that was really cool to see. He was also a member of the American Legion and a WWII vet so they did the whole flag presentation and 21 gun salute at the cemetary. It was really windy at the cemetay and grandpa had always said he didn't want the Legion guys to do the 21-gun salute for his funeral because they couldn't do it right, but Grandma insisted and they did. But of course these guys are OLD and it was certainly not insync, so about that time there was thunder and the wind picked up harder. A few of us just chuckled thorough our sobs because we knew that was Grandpa madder than hell because they couldn't get it right. lol

The graveside service was very moving. I hadn't seen a military service in a long time, so I had forgotten how emotional they can be. They played "Taps" on the bugle and there wasn't a dry eye in the place.

The rest of the day was pretty much the same as Sunday...tons of people at the house so I gladly played hostess. Got me out of talking to tons of people I don't know.

We headed back to CR today, but of course not before Chris got pulled over for doing 74 in a 55 while we were jamming to "Livin' on a Prayer". Damn Bon Jovi! :)

Got home and had tons of Live Journal entries to dig through. Found out that I won 3rd place in the _creek_stillnes icon challenge last week, and 1st place in the jm_stillness challenge. I so need to get my webpage up and going so I can display my icons. I'm still waiting on the results from a couple of other challenges.
