Oh my goddd, my vegas project has suddenly become the biggest pain in the ass. It's taking up just about all of the RAM on my computer, so when it finally opens, I'm lucky if the clips will load at all. I haven't edited in days, because the program will never actually let me get that far. I have no idea what to do. I defragged my computer and ( Read more... )

Pre-render the timeline in small batches, maybe? How much RAM are you working with?

Ohh thanks, that sounds like a good tip! I take it that that's different from Dynamic RAM preview or whatever it is? I will try it out tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Daaamn, it's not working for me. I'm working with about 3 GB RAM I think, which I know isn't all that much. When I try to pre-render, it gives me several different error messages. Sometimes "xvidcore.dll not found" (or something similar, I forget the exact file name), or "appropriate video codec not found" or "Not enough memory" or "cause of error could not be determined." I never had trouble with the codec before, so I'm thinking it's not a problem with that, but with RAM. So annoying!

Hmm, I have no other ideas, sorry. The only thing I could think of is to try and change your pre-render settings. It sounds like you're trying to pre-render in xvid, possibly in a large size? Maybe try using a custom smaller template with Huffman YUV codec instead, just to make sure it's not a codec problem?

Other than that, I can only think to suggest checking the memories over at vidding and see if anyone has raised this issue before. If not, you could make a new post there and see if anyone else has any ideas?

Sorry I couldn't be more help...
