But you enjoy the series, right? I have yet to meet a person who dislikes both the book AND the series. Though I personally think the books are fantastic. I use every free minute I have to read a couple more pages, and I find it difficult to put the book down. :)

Well, the series is certainly pretty, and the casting is spot on, but no, I'm not terribly enjoying it, because it's still the same story as the books. I skip over most of it, or watch it with the sound off.

I need my stories to have hope in them. Martin is a good writer, and I appreciate what he's trying to do with the genre, but there is no hope in ASoIaF. There are only unpleasant things happening to unpleasant people, and I don't enjoy reading about, or watching, that.
