I do realise I'm really late with this but zimena did such a wonderful post in her LJ about her opinion on the teams in this year's European Championship that inspired me to do my own

Well, my team has been, is, and will always be The Netherlands. While I was thoroughly impressed during EC 2008 and WC 2010, this time around the team were a total fiasco. I also don't get why on earth van Marwijk kept starting with Robben instead of Huntelaar. Okay, granted, The Hunter's performance was not up to par as well, but still ... I would've preferred him, given the fact that Robben was nowhere to be seen when it really mattered (CL, for example). [side note: I am getting sick and tired of the Robben jokes everywhere. My Facebook friends list is full of them ... *narf*] Funny, though, that it was ROBBEN who said the Dutch team were full of egomaniacs. Oh well

Wow, you're very brave to be supporting the Netherlands despite living in Germany! I assume you must be getting a lot of stick from Germany fans, which obviously is no fun. I hear you on the Robben jokes. I still haven't quite forgiven him for the CL final, but I think most of the jokes are lame anyway.
I dislike/hate pretty much all the players when they're playing for their clubs, so why should I be cheering for them now that they're wearing The German Shirt?I know what you mean - I have the same problem with Spain. So many players who I've come to dislike are unfortunately regular starters with Spain, and I can't bring myself to cheer on them. Funnily enough, with the German team it isn't that bad for me. Most of the players I can't stand in the league are either not playing (Wiese - though it's bad enough that he's in the squad) or didn't even get called up (Großkreutz), and I don't mind the ones who are playing

I loved watching him. It's weird because I haven't watched any Liverpool match the last season (too busy with RL and watching Athletic, and they're my top priority), so it was a special treat to see him be boss again. :)
Wow, we agree on so many things :) I could have written the exact same things about England and Portugal... Netherlands I hope will someday pull their shit together and remember how they used to play instead of fighting among themselves and doing the ocassaional kung fu (kung fu, imho, is only good for kung fu professionals and pandas!!!)
Basically atm I'm struggling btw Spain and Germany (Germany's leading) as my absolute favourite... though they have the problems you've mentioned...
That is because we are awesome and have royally great opinions. XDD
And I agree completely with what you said about the kung-fu! Couldn't have said that any better! :D (Hee hee, pandas!)
I miss the times when it was easy to root for one country. *sigh* I was so excited after Spain vs Italy match and then again after the Germany vs Netherlands match because those were good matches and Spain and Germany were playing well, but then they slipped into mediocrity again and made me want to rip out my hair. :/
YES! :D Exactly!! What I missed most during the months I wasn't on LJ properly is the football discussions. I love fics and picspams, but what I like the most is comparing opinions about the sport with fellow fans! So thanks a lot for commenting to this post and giving me your opinion
