In lieu of content...

There used to be a segment on a popular (although trashy) television programme called "What Cheeses me off". I noticed Good News Week has a similar segment.

I kind of like the idea of a bit of a rant so I invite you to comment....

What cheeses you off?

You know what cheeses me off? People who claim to be so open minded, educated and enlightened who bag all religion & spirituality.

I mean I thought part of the concept of being open-minded was to accept that other people have different views to yours. If you disagree then debate them - vigouously if you choose.

But to call all people who have a belief in any religion or spirituality, uneducated morons, brain washed idiots, a product of bad education & dismissive of science is down right wrong.

Hypocritical at best, zealotous (is that a word?) at worst.

I think lack of tolerance & bigotry has done just as much harm as any one religion has ever done.

Go get over yourselves you self serving, self opinionated, closed minded hypocrites.

Guilty as charged, I fear.

I disagree. I think you would allow for the option of others believing differently to you. I can imagine you would argue your case but I cannot imagine you dismissing a person completely based on one difference of opinion.

If that were you then we wouldn't be speaking because I often post about my spirituality & beiefs surrounding them.

What a timely rant this is, given we have just had the Atheists out in full force their Dawkins circle-jerk convention.

What cheeses me off?

Capitalism, commercialism, the pursuit of wealth.

Define wealth. Is it wrong to pursue a standard of living above the poverty line? And who decides how far above the poverty line is acceptable?

Wealth is a subjective term.

Yes it is.

I dislike the pursuit of wealth at the expense of others, who end up falling below "the poverty line". And I dislike a system that encourages and glorifies this. I abhor those who pursue wealth for its own sake, and I despair that luxuries are considered to be comforts.

What cheeses me off? That our world is not fair. That life isn't fair. That bad things happen to good people. That as much as I like to believe in karma, it only goes so far.

...also, when you say "cheeses you off", I can't help feeling guilty about all the goats cheese that I buy and then don't eat before it expires. I really don't like wasting food, especially when it's nommy food.

Your cheese if off. Hahaa, not quite what I was looking for but it made me smile.

Karma is an interesting thing isn't it. I wonder whether we have created the concept to make us feel better about the bad things happening to good people, specifically at the hands of others.
