I decided I owed Ki-chan, so I wrote her a drabble. To Punish A Thief 'verse. :)

It was, Kadib decided, entirely the kitsunes' fault. Before, he had been perfectly content with his life, hunting, napping, and defending his tree. It was a good life, and satisfying, and had been for hundreds of years.

Therefore, obviously, his current state of restlessness was entirely the fault of his far-too-pretty-for-their-own-good kitsune.

Who weren't here to relieve his boredom.

Hissing in irritation, Kadib circled his tree the other direction, hoping a view change would help, only to find himself facing the same way that he had before. East, toward the village.

Fine then. If that was how it was going to be, then so be it. Kadib slithered out of his tree and followed the worn path until the kitsune village was just beginning to come into view, then carefully skirted the edges of it, keeping to the forest. There was no reason to alarm the village with his presence, after all. He just wanted a look.

Rearing up, Kadib tested the air. They were close. Just a little bit further and he could slither in close enough to get a little glimpse of his two pretty-

Kadib hissed quietly. His kitsune were not alone. There were others with them, three others, and they did not smell happy.

Neither did his kitsune.

"So, where's my nut of power?" one of the unknown kitsune drawled.

Ryssan stood stiffly, Akash practically wrapped around him. "You don't need a nut of power, Conlaen."

The first kitsune, Conlaen, Kadib assumed, bared his teeth. "That's not the point, is it? You promised, and now you're backing out on me."

"You know they're forbidden, Conlaen," Akash said, his voice trembling.

Conlaen snorted. "Just because the elders have everyone terrified of that dumb serpent. I bet it doesn't even exist and the elders made it up to keep everyone away from the sacred tree."

Akash scowled. "He does too exist."

"Right." Conlaen bared his teeth. "You only think that it exists. You've never actually seen it."

"We have too!" Akash protested. "Lots of times!"

Ryssan winced and clapped a hand over his brother's mouth as Conlaen frowned.

"I don't like it when people lie to me. Especially when they've promised to bring me something and all I get are excuses."

Both twins stiffened. Ryssan's ears flattened to his head. "We never promised you anything," he said quietly. "We said we'd get it, but we never promised."

Conlaen flashed his teeth again. "You lie, kit. You and your brother are both oathbreakers."

Akash broke free of Ryssan's grasp and lunged forward, furious. "We are not! We're not liars!" He lashed out, though Conlaen sidestepped him easily, claws striking out at Akash's unprotected back.

Before he could connect Kadib was there, catching the arm and using it to lift the irritating kitsune into the air as he reared back.

"That isss not a wisse action," he hissed.

Conlaen went white. His cronies scattered.

"Y-y-you're..."

"Kadib!" Akash exclaimed happily, scrambling over to hug the nearest section of tail. "What are you doing here?"

"Besides rescuing idiots from bullies," Ryssan added wryly, though he was smiling.

"I'm not an idiot!" Akash protested.

Ryssan snorted. "Because a smart kitsune would pick a fight with-" He broke off, frowning, and looked up at Kadib.

"You're not going to kill him, are you, Kadib?"

Kadib regarded the petrified kitsune in his grasp. "Why not?"

"It's not nice to kill people," Akash informed him, though the effect was somewhat spoiled by the way he was clinging to a coil.

"Even if it's Conlaen," Ryssan added.

Kadib considered, then bared his fangs at his unfortunate captive, who whimpered. "Theesse belong to me. I sssuggesst you do not attempt to harm them again."

So said, he dropped the terrified kitsune and coiled himself around his pretty twins, granting the necessary kisses when kitsune faces turned to him expectantly. He felt much better now, undignified as it was to have his peace of mind dictated to him by the presence of two flighty kitsune.

Very pretty flighty kitsune.

"Did you miss us?" Akash asked, golden eyes bright.

Kadib scowled. "No. I wass sssimply out wandering when I caught your sscent."

Akash looked disappointed for a moment, and there was absolutely no reason that Kadib should be feeling slightly guilty, then he looked up with a quiet smile playing about his lips. "So, we should just stay here and not come visit you today?"

For a moment Kadib simply stared at him, unable to process such a thought, then he caught on to what Akash was up to and glared. "You are irritating, troublesssome, and deviousss."

A glance at Ryssan showed the same semi-hopeful, semi-mischievous look that Akash sported, and Kadib mentally conceded defeat. He'd just have to punish them particularly severely to make up for such insolence.

With a quiet hiss, Kadib reached out and slung one kitsune over each shoulder, then turned toward the one that had dared attempt to strike his Akash. Conlaen cringed and scrambled ungraciously backwards, his eyes going wide as Kadib bared his teeth.

"Mine."

With that, he turned around and slithered back toward his tree with his furry cargo, mind already thinking up all the wonderful ways that he could deliver proper punishment.

Given the way he could feel hot, matching hardnesses against each of his shoulders, he rather suspected that his kitsune were thinking exactly the same thing.
