An updated version of my essay from 2019 including one or two new theories.

By request here is my examination of Albus Dumbledore and some of his actions and possible motivations thereof.

The timeline of the Potters' last year is so messed up. But it is definitely fishy. They were living there by July 1981, because shortly after Harry's birthday, Lily wrote to Sirius about chatting with Bathilda. It sounded like she hadn't know Bathilda all that long, so it might have been a recent move. But they didn't go under Fidelius until late October. So... they were in hiding-but-not-Fidelius somewhere, then in hiding-but-not-Fidelius in Godric's Hollow for months (but not so deeply in hiding that they can't invite neighbors over for tea), and then it suddenly was so dangerous (despite no one tracking them down apparently?) that they cast Fidelius. There are pieces missing from this puzzle! I can't see a way around invoking arrogance and carelessness, and malice does seem all too possible ( ... )
