I was talking with Brenda this morning; random tangents off of random tangents, and then we were talking about mugs. I have a tendency to collect oversized ones -- 12 oz or larger. In fact, my MN Ren Fest mug is my beverage holder of choice while at home.
I haven't drunk soda at an SCA event (having never been to one), but I have drunk soda and other non-hot beverages from a mug at Fest and, of course, at CVG.
I have a beverage holder that feels good in my hand and holds what I need it to hold. Bonus points that I don't have to worry about whether or not it will hold extremely hot stuff before melting or melting what I sit it on. Also bonus that in the case of the ceramic mugs such as mine, if I *really* need to risk break my prized mug, it can double as a weapon. :)

Now, if you mean mug like a travel mug with a lid, yes, I drink pop from those all the time. Because I travel a lot and like having my drink of choice (Cherry Coke Zero) with me.
