A question about mugs

I was talking with Brenda this morning; random tangents off of random tangents, and then we were talking about mugs. I have a tendency to collect oversized ones -- 12 oz or larger. One of my favorites is 16 or 20oz -- it can hold a can of soda and ice and still have space left -- with gold swirls on a red background. And it occurs to me as Brenda ( Read more... )

I prefer my ceramic mugs to any other drink container in my house. I have a more generic standard mundane 'Return of the Jedi' mug for my desk at work. But thats only because I don't want to risk breaking any of my cool fest/SCA ceramic mugs.

I have, indeed, drunk soda from a mug.
And all sorts of other hot and not-hot beverages from a mug.
In fact, my MN Ren Fest mug is my beverage holder of choice while at home.
I haven't drunk soda at an SCA event (having never been to one), but I have drunk soda and other non-hot beverages from a mug at Fest and, of course, at CVG.

I have a beverage holder that feels good in my hand and holds what I need it to hold. Bonus points that I don't have to worry about whether or not it will hold extremely hot stuff before melting or melting what I sit it on. Also bonus that in the case of the ceramic mugs such as mine, if I *really* need to risk break my prized mug, it can double as a weapon. :)

I drink soda from mugs at SCA events, but not generally otherwise. I don't think it's odd, though.

While I don't do so as a habit, I have drunk soda and water from mugs at home and "away".

Are we talking mug like coffee cup? If so, no. I drink warm beverages from those and cold beverages from glasses.

Now, if you mean mug like a travel mug with a lid, yes, I drink pop from those all the time. Because I travel a lot and like having my drink of choice (Cherry Coke Zero) with me.
