I'm neither an artist, crafter or jeweler, but I kick ass at planning events. If you decide to do this and need a hand with the planning, let me know.

My initial reaction is to say, no, it wouldn't squash my creativity. In the past what has done so has been stress and trying to do too many things around the same time (aka, a multitude of ceramic dishes, two books, a pair of paintings and a french paper all assigned within the week to be done by the next week. If there is too much to focus on, there can be no focus.)

However, given the box of pieces to work with in a specific time frame with only that to focus on I'm sure most people would be fine. The rest of life and living need not creep in.
