Well there is always flipping the text, make it finish with Joe as an example of what you are talking about. Or you could use something from last year as an "this is not completely unusual in the field of men's gymnastics..." and then put in something about Gerry, Drew, or Luke "as last year's seniors competed with XYZ injuries"

I mean it is a good thing that the other guys are healthy(ier)
