I am a shitty guy to have run a game. It's just dawned on me. Yep, it's true. I don't mind at all though. Because I like my justification for it, and this is why

And that's what I try to do, but in Exalted it's on a whole different level. Sure I can be nice, help people, and be encouraging. I can stand up for others and try to be that image of heroics I idealize. The thing is, it's on a whole different level. Instead of helping one person, you SAVE HUNDREDS. I only wish I could have such sweeping, positive effects on the world around me. I get that I can help, I just want to help more is all

At one time I felt like that but then society crushed all of my hopes and dreams so now I don't bother trying to be the good guy I just try to get by...
Why give up? Yeah, the world does suck at times, but there are good people out there, and they really appreciate bits of kindness and encouragement. I guess people just keep telling me the world isn't worth it and I'm just going to become bitter, but I don't see it. I don't see it at all, really.
Yeah, that pretty much nails it on the head and lays it all out right there. And it also opens my eyes to the fact that everyone who has frustrated me at Exalted don't really know what Exalted is. My cousins all think this is DnD on steroids (S&R), or want it to be (Mitch). The Eleva guys all think way too small or aren't playing heroes. It's just a hack and slash DnD game, which it is terrible at. It's not, nor will it ever be, DnD. The system is meant to represent awesome heroics, not quick and easy killing (too complicated and epic). I should probably lay that down before I regret it.
Thanks for that bit of insight Brian, it helped me quite a bit. Thanks!
I agree that S&R completely thought Exalted was D&D on steroids. I chatted with Mitch in the car ride home after last session, and I think we got something good going, that will sync what he wants, what you want, and even what Tyler wants, all together. But you'll need to talk to him personally about it.
