Letting Stuff Go

It's quite obvious, looking at my clutter, that I have too much stuff. Once again I am sorting, organizing, cleaning. It's easier to get rid of old clothes, and Paperback Swap has helped me let go of books (though I usually have to wait to reread them first), but throwing old art projects away does give me a pang. I keep the ones that have ( Read more... )

At least with the magic of digital storage, we can throw away blah doodles. I think I've actually kept pretty much everything I've done, but I forget about alot of stuff. And I'm not sure what will happen to alot of crap once I move in with Patrick. :/ I want to have a garage sale, actually; maybe I'll see if Krista wants to have one.

Yeah, I haven't thrown away much art either, because most of it's already sorted and put away and I'm just trying to make room for the stuff I'm bringing home tomorrow. Also, I've been building up a collection of stuff I could use if I do more collage/assembly, b/c making that sketchbook was fun.

Eventually I'd like to get rid of the old stuff I don't need that's already organized...

I did throw away some old school work. Statistics hoandouts? Don't need em. Periodic table? Don't need it. I felt a little sad throwing away my sheet of physics and trigonometry formulas, but I'm never gonna use that again either. Those were some good classes back in the day.

Yeah, I know how that is. My room is a mess and needs a good scouring :-P I just took pictures of everything I was on the fence about and then kept only the things I REALLY cared about.

Yeah, throwing away art is hard, but sometimes the thought of figuring out how to store it is grosser. I threw away a bunch of stuff from a drawing class that I dropped. Somehow it seemed more right to throw away that stuff because I dropped the class. Maybe if I had completed the course I would have felt a need to keep it? Life feels really arbitrary sometimes. Kendra is right on about the magic of digital storage. I'm just glad I'm not a sculpture major. At least my shit is flat.

ksh- I did some math tonight because my brother is going through it now, and it felt really good. I missed that stuff. I started reading his latin book too. It is like flossing-- it feels worthwhile to do it if you haven't in a long time.
