This is why I think it so ludicrous when people get upset about a celebrity complaining about being followed by paparazzi, stalked by fans, etc. There are undertones of "how dare they not be grateful for what they have!" and "why don't they get out of the business, then!"
1) Who doesn't complain about their job? Talking about the problems you face as a result of your job doesn't make you a hypocrite for not quitting. Besides, you can quit acting, but it's a lot more difficult to quit being a celebrity--it's entirely dependent upon other people's interest in you!
2) Are these people suggesting that THEY wouldn't be upset to have someone taking pictures of them through their living room window? That they wouldn't find it wearying to be unable to leave the house without people stopping them to talk/fondle/whatever?
People seem to consider celebrities public property just because they appear on the TV screens in our living rooms!
Honestly I think there should be a line. It's hard to get groceries these days without being bombarded by "information" about celebrities' lives. It's hard to miss if you're just trying to grab a candy bar in the check out line.
I will admit that while I did notice one of those hookups looking for a candy bar this weekend, since it was staring me in the face I thought, "you know, I'm glad, that looks like they're enjoying themselves." Even then I still felt guilty since it really wasn't any of my business.
