I can't take credit for this. But this response was generated during a debate about the "evolution is only a theory" stickers on text books ( Read more... )

what is most interesting is what happens at infinity.

not just the number, but the place.

and then I get confused as we talk about non-euclidean geometry.

But what are the chances that God exists? And not only that, but that he wanted to make Earth and all the things in it? The chances in this situation are also slim. This is why probability is a beautiful thing.

As for evolution, the fact that there has never been one single case of observed evolution

I don't think anyone saw the world created either. The story of its creation was merely handed down... for all we know it could be a simple explanation like Native Americans have to explain our existence and relationship with the world. So who knows if creationism is true either.

My aunt, a college science professor puts it in a similer way.

If one was to take all the pieces to a watch, loose, not connected to each other in any way, place them into a sack, and shake it. And continue to shake it until the watch has not only put itself together, but put itself together in such a way that it can replicate itself perfectly, the chances of that are the same as that of evolution.

put itself together in such a way that it can replicate itself perfectly

Incorrect. The entire point of evolution is that each generation changes into a species that is more adaptable to its environment.

"replicate itself perfectly" is not incorrect, most generations have no difference from its predicessor, the real changes are the result of random chance.

Of course no one saw the world created, but faith does not erquire things to be observed to be considered fact, science does, so the placeing of evolution as fact, which most evolutionist do, breaks the rules of the very thing it is supposed to be based on.

"To believe that the human eye, with all its complexity, evolved by random chance is absurd to the highest dgree possible." ~ Charles Darwin

It does not bode well for thsoe following when the founder says its absurd, that would be like christ saying "To believe that the earth was created by a god in seven days is F***ing dumb man"
