Strange Days

So I've moved. Again. California was great, but it really didn't feel like the place for me. A gradually-increasing combination of lonliness, poverty and worry about the condition of my family back home finally pushed me into going back to the place I started from. I have mixed feelings about it all, but overall I think-- at least temporarily-- it ( Read more... )

Hehehe. Welcome to the life of a nomad. Not sure if attachment to things and places is a good or bad thing. In any case, don't let your perception of California be skewed by socal. I hate that area. My own perception based on the people I had the misfortune of interacting with in LA the smog and the heat but I can tell you with absolute certainty that socal and norcal are completely different beasts.

In any case . . . I don't want to preach to you or anything so I'll keep it as short and sweet as my tendency for polemic diarehea will allow. Don't let anyone else define good or bad for you. It's your thing that you have to decide for yourself and if you let anyone else define for you what makes life worth living or what makes a good person . . . you'll lose yourself. So I hope that wasn't too preachy. Just . . . if someone tells you to change maybe they have your best interests in mind but . . . its still you not them so I guess its kinda Buddhist. Change comes from within. So apparently does happiness self-worth and everything else.

No, I agree totally. I've been all over California and there's a huge difference between the southern regions and northern regions. Like trees. I hear rumors that Northern California has these things called "trees."

...wait... Happiness and self-worth come from within!? Since when!?? I thought happiness came from being accepted by everyone else?! You mean... TV has lied to me>!?! ALL THESE YEARS?

...I think I need to sit down...

Dammit man now you're making me nostalgic. *fadeout wistfull harp music misty scenery with lilting voiceover* my first memories were of the majestic redwoods their impossibly burghandy trunks stretching ruthlessly and yet emotively towards the distant light blue peaking coquettishly through the dark green of the canopy. Their leaves giving leave to only the most golden strands of delicate sunlight to penetrate down to the deep oceanic forest floor . . .

Yeah I know. to hear the idiot box tell it all you need is to make monthly payments of $19.99 and your life will be complete. But what I mean is . . . friends are great but you can't let them tell you which path to take y'know? Okay, I'll shut up now.

I could hear the voiceover guy from "the Wonder Years" as I read your reply. Does that mean 10 or 20 years from now you'll turn into Fred Savage...?
Weeeeiiiirrrd....

But no, I got what you were saying. I went where I felt I needed to be the most, although I will miss the friends I made while in California. Ultimately though I realized I needed to do what I needed to do for me. Preach on, sista!

Wow, you and your friend with the witty commentary. Are all your friends just as quirky and fun as you or is Aranka the exception to th rule? I know I'm rather boring in comparison so either she is the exception or I am ( ... )

Well first of all, nobody is as quirky or fun as me. Nobody. So your first question is invalid ( ... )

Actually, the question is invalid because it implies that you have FRIENDS. OH BURN HA HA HA.

Serious comment part:
Glad you didn't die on the way back home. Sucks that you didn't enjoy living in Cali as much as you hoped while you were there, but if you're not happy, you can't stay there. THAT GOES FOR YOU IN THE COMMENT ABOVE, TOO!

Though you got the quote wrong. "Home is where the rump rests." Did I just pull out an old school Disney refrence? I believe I did.
