CA unfortunately was not the only one. AZ and FL as well.
CA's may still be overturned by early/absentee ballots. Also, because the CA Supreme Ct has already ruled on gay marriage, they may be able to force it to requiring constitutional REVISION rather than amendment - which in CA means getting a 2/3 majority in both legislative houses THEN getting reps from all over the state and then having the revision.
Yeah but while they make me sad, I was expecting AZ and FL to pass. Those are traditionally conservative states. Ca breaks my heart because it's considered a bastion of liberalism, and the fact the bloody Mormons from Utah funded the danm thing. I;m hoping it can be overturned, i really do.
I know that SF and Alameda counties - two of the biggies against - have some 350,000 absentee/early ballots between them, which last I heard was all that the spread was.
I will admit, though, I pin more hopes to the CA Supreme Ct. I'll just be less embarassed to be from CA if the voters unfuck this up on their own.
...given how things went in OC, I think I'm going to stick to saying I'm from Santa Barbara. At least THAT is liberal enough that people don't start snickering.
