On writing...

When I was about 7 years old, I wrote a story for school.  It was complete nonsense (as 7 year old's stories tend to be) about a bus magically appearing to take my best friend to a party.  I won a prize for it - a pen.  I don't remember having ever won a prize for anything before.  I was rather good at maths, but they didn't give prizes for that ( Read more... )

It was years and years ago back when I worked for them and was more on the US servers.

We did a short-lived IC newsletter called the Gadgetzan Times which appeared on the website. I was a writer for it, and one of my columns was basically an agony aunt thing where Azeroth residents write in for advice from this goblin granny type.

One of the questions I wrote was from a paladin's wife who was frustrated with her hubbie declaring everything he did 'for the light!'. The washing up was 'for the light'. Taking the trash out was 'for the light!'. Having sex was... well you get the idea. The agony aunt's advice was to become a deathknight and do everything 'for the darkness'.

This proved very popular in the US where for a week or so it became one of the top phrases to yell in groups etc.

Sadly the Gadgetzan Times got axed after a couple of issues cos the guy who controls all the lore got freaked out by us making crap up.
