Naww, taking real knives to a larp event is a recipe for disaster. ;)
There's some places that do roll up bags of replica medical equipment for larps, so that could work. But it may be better to just make the bag, then get some plastic syringes and vials seperately.
You should come and crew, as that's only a fiver. And there's someone else planning to come down to the next one from Edinburgh so it may be possible to share some transport costs. :)
Excruciator set - you could get a voltmeter, paint it up to look 40k-ish, and clip the clips onto people and turn up the dial :D bzzzzzzt! *screams* bzzzzzzt!

There is the problem of getting time off from FND as well - if I miss meetings I lose my benefits :(
