Can I suggest looking at regular exercise (or more thereof), rather than dieting? It won't necessarily make your *weight* go down, but it may well change you to a different (and slimmer) shape, as you replace fat with (denser) muscle. It's also better for you, and anecdotally easier to stick with.
The obvious structure would be to pick a sensible form of exercise or two (I recommend cycling or swimming) and engage in them either two or three times a week, in a properly scheduled manner. I think the only dietry advice needed to complement that would be 'don't overindulge in anything'.
I find eating 3 meals a day rather than 4 or 5 plus snacks helps me lose weight.
I'm reasonably sure that Amina Khayam does kathak dance classes at the university of Guildford, which you might like (you could get bells!)
Either that or partnered dancing is good. Exercise stops being a chore once you enjoy it.
And mind you, according to that lying running dog BMI I was clinically obese and needed to lose 25kg. Since I wanted to keep both my legs that was a bit of a non-starter. Size 14 to size 12 is pretty do-able I reckon.

The Hacker Diet, and track your progress with MyFitnessPal (friend me there!). Both are free, if that matters. Adding science adds motivation.
